ASYA seeks supply of adequate rice in Sagalee area

ITANAGAR, May 4: Sagalee, a sub-divisional headquarter is  facing food crisis, this was claimed by All Sagalee Youth Association (ASYA) in its release here today. ASYA claimed that people of various circles such as Mengio, Toru, Parang and Silsango are facing shortage of food grains due to bad crops production last year. Saying that people are now rely on food and civil supplies department for food grains, Association sought additional quota of rice to the fair price shops in the area, so that demand of people could be met. It further said that presently meager amount of rice have been allocated to fair price shops.

 

Explanation sought

ITANAGAR, May 4: All Arunachal Pradesh Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya Teachers Association on Friday sought explanation from the state project director SSA Rajya Mission for the non-enhancement of their staff salary.  In its representation to the authority concerned, association claimed that despite its repeated pleas, the salary of KGBV teacher not enhanced yet. Association further hoped to get explanation within 15 days.

 

Death mourned

ITANAGAR, May 4: All Arunachal Pradesh Diploma Holder in Elementary Education Association (AAPDHEEA) has mourned the untimely demise of Suresh Pal Singh, lecturer of District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Naharlagun in Guwahati following a brief illness on April 30.

Singh was a very sincere and dedicated person. His death is a great loss to the education department, specially training institute of Arunachal Pradesh and the state as whole. His contribution towards education sector will always be remembered, AAPDHEEA said in a condolence message.

The association prayed to almighty to rest his departed soul in peace and give strength to the bereaved family members to bear the irreparable loss.

 

AAPSU team to meet PM

ITANAGAR, May 4: A delegation of All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) headed by its president Kamta Lapung  is expected to meet the  Prime Minister   and Chief Election Commissioner at New  Delhi and  take up the staple visa issue  and the issue of Bengal Eastern Frontier  Regulation Act 1873  for its effective implementation besides the refugee problem. The team under the  banner of the North East Students Union (NESO) including NESO organizing secretary Tajum Poyum has already left Itanagar for Delhi today to meet the central ministers. The  team has also a plan to meet the Union Home Minister and  external affairs minister.

The NESO team will  put pressure on the central Govt during its visit to fulfill its eight-point charter of demands which include the  scraping of Arms Forces Special Power  Act.

 

BWS demands probe into poll violence

ITANAGAR, May 4: The Bengia Welfare Society (BWS) today informed that a delegation of the Society headed by its chairman Dr Bengia Tobin called on the state election commissioner yesterday and lodged a written complaint against the erring authorities and political leaders who are responsible for death of a promising youth Bengia Tamang in poll related violence that took place at Koloriang on April 25 last.

Expressing concern over the poll related violence, the  Society   condemned such violence activities and demanded immediate constitution of impartial enquiry committee headed either by  a sitting judge of the High Court  or by retired senior  bureaucrat to unearth the truth behind the issuance of two INC tickets for 10 Parsi-Parlo ZPM segment which resulted in conflict and loss of a precious life.

The society also  demanded immediate enquiry into the “politics behind centralization of filing of nomination papers and scrutiny of the same at district Hq Koloriang, instead of respective administrative circle.” Blaming the administration for such incident, the Society said “had the administration shown sufficient sincerity and sensitivity towards the gravity of the overall situation in the areas, the story would have been different.  It further demanded suspension of the  DEO and RO  till the enquiry is over.

Arunachal witnesses hectic PR poll activities

ITANAGAR, May 04: As the panchayat election is nearing first, the district administrations in various districts  of the state are  agog with hectic election activities like training programme for  polling personnel, poll preparedness and  review of security scenario for smooth conduct of the  elections.

At Yingkiong, the second phase of election training for Presiding and Polling officers was held under the chairmanship of ADC-cum-DPDO (ARO) Rajesh Panyang today. Around 300 trainees enthusiastically attended the training.

Dr. Kaling Dai, DMO, Dr. Ahik Miyu, DTO and BS Serawat, ST imparted training on duties and responsibilities to the Presiding and Polling officers, the system of opening and sealing of ballot boxes and all related activities, procedures to be observed and maintained properly during the polling, pre-poll and post-poll period.

Newly joined Superintendent of Police Tage Habung also addressed the trainees in brief and informed about security arrangement during the poll period.

Later, the ARO announced the names of Presiding and Polling officers and issued appointment letter to them mentioning the dates of movement of the Polling teams to their respective destination.  

Similar training for Presiding and Polling officers was also held at Siddhartha Hall, Itanagar here today.

Bokar Basar, MRO asked all to make the best of the training and get their doubts cleared during the interactive session.

SC Debnath, Deputy Secretary Education, said that since the Presiding/ Polling Officers were already briefed on the general rules and regulations for conduct of election in the last training, he asked all the trainees to participate in the interactive session and get their queries/ doubts cleared from the master trainer. He also asked them to provide their feedback as well.

The training was divided into two sessions—interactive and practical training -- where trainees were given practical training on the use of EVM and informed about transportation and security related issues by MRO SC Debnath, Deputy Secretary Education, and the master trainers.

The election training for more than 400 Presiding, Polling officers and Attendants for Aalo West and East got underway at Govt. H.S. school auditorium today.

Personally supervising the training, the West Siang DEO MK Sahoo asked all officials nominated for election to discharge their duties in a responsive manner for successful and free and fair election. Election process is a sensitive issue and need careful handling as any mistake may lead to re-conduct of entire process. All officials engaged in election duties are direct representatives of the State Election Commission and the Presiding Officers have been given enormous power during the time of election and success of the election largely depend on their wisdom and knowledge, he said.

District Panchayat Development Officer Moki Loyi highlighting the main objective of the training disclosed that list of the officials to be engaged in 52 Polling Stations under Aalo East and West have been finalized and no request for exemption from duty will be entertained.

The Master Trainer Henrik Basar, HDO dwelt at length about handling, sealing of Ballot Box, maintenance of diary etc. through lecture and power point presentation.

DC-led team visits various Police Stations

ITANAGAR, May 04:  District Election Officer (PR)/DMEO Pige Ligu along with Superintendent of Police (City) Surender Kumar visited Banderdewa, Doimukh and Naharlagun Police Stations to inspect the deposition of firearms.

The team also inspected the CCTV cameras installed at Banderdewa checkgate and undergoing construction works within the premises of Doimukh and Naharlagun police stations.

The DC along with the SP briefed the Police Personnel regarding the security preparedness for the upcoming elections.

They also visited and checked various polling stations. The joint inspection was basically to check security preparedness for the upcoming twin elections.

Meanwhile, the DC (Capital Complex) has directed all the Administrative Officers and ILP issuing authorities of Capital Complex to restrict the issue of ILP to the outsiders till the completion of election process in order to check the entry of bogus voters from outside the State. He further said that the issuing authority should thoroughly verify before issuing of ILP, the antecedent of the person for whom ILP is applied for and ascertain the fact that the same is not applied for entry of bogus voters. Cyclone lashes Nari area, leaves trail of devastation

RUKSIN, May 4: A naughty shower followed by a gusty cyclone last midnight lashed entire Nari area in East Siang and adjoining Laimekuri area in Assam. The cyclone that lasted for more than an hour uprooted trees and bamboo groves and damaged several dwelling houses in the area incurring heavy loss to the affected people. It also badly damaged rubber garden in Nari and Laimekuri area.

The cyclone swept through Lumpo, Namey, Depi, Depi-Moli and Detak villages under Nari circle and Majulipur, Tako Gitung, Baikuntapur and Milonpur of Jonai circle (Assam) and badly damaged power supply lines in those areas. The uprooted trees fell into the 33 KV power supply (main) line passing along the NH-52 at four different places and completely snapped power supply in the entire area.

The Ruksin-Nari PWD road blocked by uprooted trees and debris dumped by the cyclone is yet to be cleared. The cyclone also caused extensive damage to standing crops inflicting heavy economic losses to the farmers.

Meanwhile, the Circle Officer of Nari along with the ADC in-charge and local leaders including former Nari-Seren ZPM Kenyom Dabii and Ramle Banggo Welfare Society Secretary Kayi Dabii today visited the affected villages and took stock of the disastrous situation. The leaders have demanded the district administration to give necessary compensation and assistance to the affected families after properly assessing the extent of the damage for their quick rehabilitation. The properties lost and damaged in the cyclone are likely to cross several lakhs of rupees.

Power department sources informed that the cyclone severely damaged the power lines in the area and it would take some time for complete restoration.

On the other hand, incessant rain for the last three days badly affected people’s life in the region.

 

 

Farmers Field School inaugurated at Renging village, Pasighat

ITANAGAR, May 4: Farmers Field School at Renging village in Pasighat block of East Siang district was inaugurated by Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Project Director LB Singh today. The Farmers Field School has been established by Krishi Vigyan Kendra East Siang, College of Horticulture and Forestry, Central Agriculture University, Pasighat in collaboration with Agricultural Technology management Agency (ATMA) East Siang.

Addressing the farmers on the occasion, ATMA Project Director Singh briefed them about ATMA’s ongoing programmes. He distributed seeds of summer vegetables to farmers attending the programme.

Dr. Mahesh Pathak, Programme Coordinator, KVK East Siang highlighted the various achievements and activities of the KVK. He assured the farmers of every possible technical help from the KVK.

The subject matter specialists in plant protection demonstrated nursery management methods in vegetable crops and educated the farmers about disease and insect pest management in summer vegetable crops.

The SMS in fishery delivered lecture on construction of polythene line rain water harvesting structure.

They SMSs cleared doubts and quarries of the farmers regarding insect pest and disease management in citrus and seasonal vegetable crops, rain water harvesting and integrated farming system.

The programme was organized in Citrus Orchard area of Obang Tamuk, a Progressive Farmer from Renging village.

Altogether 28 progressive farmers from Renging village participated in the programme. The programme was sponsored by Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) East Siang.
